I don't know what really makes me different from the other athletes; the best of the best should have it all - Grades, speed, work ethic, will to win, etc... I can say I'm pretty good in most of those categories, but the one i strive the most is the will to win. Getting anything less than first is more than disappointing. I keep all my medals as a reminder of what I've done in the past, and the 3rd and 2nd places only serve as motivation to improve, because those should have been 1st place medals. When my relay team and I got third in the 4x4 relay at States, only behind first by .6 seconds, I don't think I had ever been more disappointed. Why didn't I run a better time? Why couldn't I? Did I not work hard enough?
This upcoming season, I will be working as hard as I can to become the best athlete that I can be. I know I'm definitely not the fastest, and there are probably hundreds of athletes who have the same times or better than me, but I hope you see me as a great candidate for your team. I hope you can be around to see me succeed as I cross the finish line this year at states, and that you take up the opportunity to contact me before that.
