My name is Luke Collins. I am a very hard worker - in all aspects of my life! Running is my passion! I want to run track & field primarily and potientally cross country at the collegiate level. I ran my first official race at age 6. It was then that I was hooked on running. I am a very competitive person. I like to set goals and be persistent until I hit them!
In 7th Grade I was selected to "run up" on the High School Varsity XC Team. I competed for both my middle school and high school teams. Some days I would run in a 2-mile MS XC Meet then turn around and competitively finish in a HS Varsity 5K. Those days made me very proud. I have run on a school XC Team consistently since 6th Grade.
I have been running Varsity Track & Field for my school since 7th Grade. Originally, I did just middle / long distance events and relays. In the 2022 spring season in 10th grade, I experimented with sprints and long jump. I found that I had some success with jumping. At the State T&F Championships, I barely scratched on a great long jump. My coach had it measured anyways - and it was 21 feet, 3 inches. With more practice, I can improve with this.
Running makes me happy! I am able to do well in many areas of my life when I have victories in running. It is my goal to keep improving in college for myself and my team.
