I have been fortunate to be able to run with an amazing team that continues to grow each year. My team depends on me to lead them in workouts, pacing, coach relationships and scoring points in races. My team knows that I want us to be the best we can be and will help push us towards our full potential. I value coaching expertise and am responsive to instruction and criticism because I want to be the best that I can possibly be.
When I was a freshman, I tried out for the high school soccer team and did not make the team. At that time not making the team seemed to be a terrible thing, it is what pushed me to join the cross-country team and find my real true sport, running! I look back now and realized I have learned so much from that experience and I would not be where I am today without going through that challenging situation. That situation taught me how to develop a stronger work ethic, accept challenges head on, and overcome obstacles and to find the positive in all situations.
I am still relatively young in my running career and believe that I have a very high ceiling for my max potential. I am self-motivated with a strong passion for running and becoming the best runner I can be. I also want to remain humble in my pursuit of a college running program and I look forward to finding a great college/university that will challenge me in the classroom and running.
Statement from XC/Distance Coach:
Coach Jackson Boyles states, “It has been rare that I have come across an athlete such as Tyler. His work ethic astounds, and his passion shines through in every conversation. Tyler is self-motivated, talented, diligent, and a pleasure to coach.”
My Freshman year track season was canceled due to covid-19,making my first ever track season my sophomore year. In addition, my sophomore XC season was shortened due to covid-19. Even with these challenges I have still managed to generate very solid times and many PR's and know that my personal bests are yet to come.
