As a student-athlete, I have always strived to achieve excellence in both athletics and academics. With collegiate goals and aspirations in mind. Growing up I played baseball at an early age and played until middle school, that is where I decided to try out for track because my friends thought with me having long legs that I might be good at it. Well, turns out I enjoyed running track more than playing baseball, so I switched sports in the 7th grade. I am a 200m and 400m runner, not too bad in the 100m either, I recently in the summer of 2023 decided to try out long jumping and cross country at the beginning of my sophomore year 2023. I have been running with a summer track club as well as competing in indoor track meets. During off-season, I workout in the gym and have a personal long jump coach and maintains offseason training with the track club.
I am a student first and then an athlete, because without the grades there is no sports, so I strive to maintain passing grades in school. Staying up late to finish up an essay or studying late night after a long day of physical and mental workouts, is pushed through with determination, which is something being in sports have taught me. Being a student athlete has given me leadership qualities. The discipline that is required to be successful at a sport has only strengthened me in every aspect of my life. The discipline through sports has taught me to respect everyone, be coachable, and not sell myself short. Everything learned through sports give you a big advantage in school as well.
Going into college I want to focus on my academics and hopefully find a career I love in the gaming or physical education. While focusing on and achieving my academic goals, I hope to join a team that will give me the opportunity to further develop my skills, grow as an individual, and contribute to the success of the team while still being able to stay active in the sport I love.
