Personal Statement

I have now been running consistently for several years, and I have had great success during that time. I attribute that success to my consistent hard work and disciplined dedication to the sport as well as the encouragement and lessons learned from my coaches, peers, and family. Knowing that I have a strong work ethic, am eager to learn new things, and easily form relationships with others,  I am excited to begin my college running experience.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Matanuska Peak Challange
  • 8/09/21 to 8/09/21
  • This was my first ever mountain race and I had so much fun doing it. The course was over two mountains, was 14 miles round trip, and featured almost 10,000 feet of elevation gain. It was the hardest, steepest thing I have ever done but it really challenged me mentally and proved to me that I could do whatever I set my mind to. I hope to do many more races like it in the future.
  • Camp/Event
  • Bowerman Track Club Running Camp
  • 7/12/20 to 8/09/20
  • This camp was intended to be a week-long camp in Bend, Oregon, however, it was changed to a month-long online camp due to Covid. We had daily zoom meetings where we learned various things related to running and we were all given a personalized training program to follow. This program and my fellow runners helped push me to train hard throughout the course and I learned a lot and had fun.
  • Camp/Event
  • Nike Running Camp
  • 8/11/19 to 8/15/19
  • Amazing running coaches at the camp with many decades of experience. I learned so much about form, stretching, diet, strategies, mental fortitude, and everything else running-related in a very short time and I loved every second of it.
