  • 2021 Skagit Valley Aquatics (Senior 2)
  • The team name was changed from Skagit Valley Family YMCA Chinooks to Skagit Valley Aquatics when the team transitioned to a USA / YMCA team. Swim practice was six days a week for two hours. Additional dryland training with a personal trainer twice a week for an hour each. Our team was limited to participating in short course meets due to YMCA regulations. Ours was the first team to do so for the state. As such we only had a total of two meets during the SC season. The team participated in two travel-long course meets, but my parents chose to stay back as we discovered the source of my rib pain which led to surgery being scheduled in August. There was a concern for the risk of exposure to Covid-19 at these large away meets, which would interfere with my surgery and recovery schedule which will already impact my 2022 season. At this time we are focusing on recovery and essentially relearning how to swim. When it was discovered I have slipping rib syndrome we realized how much it affected my performance, and how I felt both in and out of the pool. I am excited to see how I will perform once I am fully recovered.
  • 2020 Skagit Valley Family YMCA (SVFY) Chinooks (Senior 2)
  • The schedule for 2020 was impacted by lockdowns and the pandemic. I was among six swimmers who were permitted to begin training for our team in the beginning of July 2020 as a trial run to see how it could be done for the team as a whole. We trained 6 days a week for 2 hours. As a result of the pandemic we were out of the water for almost 5 months. During that time, when possible one of my parents would take me to a lake within 30 minutes of where we live so I could open water swim in a wet suite.
  • 2019 Bellingham Bay Swim Team (BBST) Unattached (Gold/Platinum )
  • While I was allowed to start the season training with the team as unattached like the previous year, the head-coach changed his mind midway. My parents were encouraged by the board and my coaches to challenge the decision as the board said they would like for me to stay, but my parents decided it was reasonable to go back full time to Chinooks. I was suppose to join the Platinum group, but because we were driving a farther distance to join BBST, I would have had to leave practice when it started in order to be on-time for school, so I was only able to do part of the workouts with my proper group. This took place in November.
