Spring of my sophomore year, I hadn't touched a volleyball in my life. A friend from my soccer team had told me about a high school volleyball team that I had never heard about. My school didn't have a team but our rival school, Chatfield High School, did, so I tried it out and instantly fell in love. I joined a club team and have been playing ever since. This past weekend, I was lucky enough to be part of the first time the Chatfield varsity team had won every game at a tournament. I am a two sport athlete to this day and I currently play at the varsity level on both sports. I was a candidate for leadership positions multiple times and have been a teammate over anything else. Through my volleyball club, I've been to two tournaments in Chicago and St.Louis and have seen the level of play expected and am up to the challenge. The things I love most about competitive sports is the excitement I see in my teammates eyes and the strength of character it takes to be a good leader. I feel I have what it takes to bring a new energy to the collegiate level of play and look forward to growing and learning new things.
I have not committed to a career yet but I am strongly leaning toward a career in nursing. I am looking for a program that can accommodate my academic and athletic goals. I am considering nursing because I can remain calm under pressure and have good people skills. I feel as though these skills are useful in life as well as on the court and I hope you can take advantage of them for your team.
