Personal Statement

Aloha,

My name is Christopher Guillermo and I’m a 4.0 senior at Mililani High School.  Everyone calls me Chance.  My main goal is to play at the collegiate level while also working hard in school to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher.  In school, I am a hard worker and accept nothing less than my full effort every day.  My teachers and peers describe me as a focused and bright student.  I've maintained a 4.0 grade point average since middle school.  I've challenged myself academically by taking honors and AP courses ( AP Psychology, AP Chemistry).  For my senior year, I am enrolled in AP Calculus BC and AP Biology.  Additionally, this will be my second year in student council.  By obtaining the position of Public Relations Director,  I will be responsible for documenting the important events throughout my senior year for my council.  My activities outside of school include being on the youth ministry of my Church.  I aim to be an outstanding student and person.  I am looked at as a role model to other students and people.

On and off the court I am focused and will do anything so that I will succeed.  This year will be my fifth year playing volleyball and fourth year playing club volleyball.  I play for Ku’ikahi Volleyball Club as an outside hitter for my 17s Red team.  On my high school volleyball team, I was a middle blocker for my freshman year and transitioned to setter for my sophomore year.  It was a big transition and I put in a lot of effort to learn the setting duties for my squad.  I have worked very hard to earn my position by giving my 110% effort every time I step onto the court.  Being one of the captains for my high school volleyball team for the past few years, I pushed my teammates everyday in practice and gave them key tips on how to help the team.  From doing so, we fought through adversity and won our league title after 23 years.  Even though I make mistakes, I tell myself to move on from it and focus on the next play.  My teammates look up to me for guidance and, because of that, I do my best in hopes that they will do the same.  My goal in life is to never stop improving on the person I am on and off the court and also to never take the sport for granted.  I am truly blessed to have such an opportunity.  Even though times may be rough, I never give up.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile!

Mahalo,

Chance Guillermo

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
