Training

  • Beach volleyball
  • 1 year
  • Beach volleyball is a very hard switch from indoor because of how the sand drags you and your movements so you have to make harder jumps, run faster and really dig your feet and take it off the ground faster. Beach has taught me and trained my legs to be faster on the ground when not on beach and in a indoor court, As well as jump floats consistently (still training and working on that) but also my standing floats and learning how to spot serve to a specific person or spot serving in the seam of two people to get them out of system. Beach has also taught me better timing on my blocking and just being able to pick up the ball when blocking instead of going in to the block aiming to fully bring the ball back down to their side.
  • Summer volleyball clinic
  • 1 year
  • This summer of 2024, My coach held open volleyball clinics in which I attended 95% of them. At the start of the summer clinic, I was training the things that were most in my control, such as Serving and receiving again, This helped my serving so much to where it is undoubtedly my most stable and strongest skill. Also how to better receive the ball. My hitting is my weakest point because I dont work on that but I got resourceful so my tips always manage to do that trick when I am in a situation where I need to get the ball over. My setting increased drastically during this summer aswell because of how I really had to find my hand placement and get familiar with it and now I can confidently set the ball without fear of being called for doubles but I still have to things to work which is the height and how to give my hitters the best chance of hitting whatever they want like cross, sharp cross, line, and tips, I think thats the best job a setter can do.
  • Pace university open volleyball workouts
  • 2 years
  • I have been going to Pace University volleyball cub open workouts inconsistently last year due to issues about signing in but I did go. Last year was the beginning and also initiated my spark for setting before I even joined my high school volleyball team. This year going into pace open workouts, have more expirience. and I am using that opportunity to sharpen my skills but also with playing against people who are better than me, that allows me to really pinpoint my weak sides, which helps me to really work on those during my practices with my team, like the height of my sets, serving while im physically tired, and spiking. but While it's helping me see my weakness it's also helping me see my strengths such as block timing and angles, working as a team as an offensive player as I played outside again, my recieves and how im more confident im my abilities to bring the ball to the setter but also communication and knowing when to step in or out (switching how I receive for the type of person serving) so overall Pace open workouts really help me acknowledge what I need to work on to get on their level which in the long run will only improve the way I play with people my own age and be a step above with my lack of years with hard work and experience playing with better players.
  • gym/ strength training
  • 4 years
  • Ever since the summer going into 9th grade, I have been going to planet fitness using summer passes, guest passes and working with my friend, uncle, school coach(gym teacher) all to gain expirience in the gym and using a training regimen the would better help me in my volleyball expirience but also help my tone up and turn my fat into muscle. I know I'm pretty short for a volleyball player which just means that my core skills would let me be on the same level as everyone else, But I have something to me that I've personally always had. I've always gained weight easily and lost it somewhat easily. The reason I mention that is because with gaining weight that just means I've always been a pretty big guy and since going to the gym my fat has turned into strength and I've always been known and see as a big guy and what I like to acknowledge today is that my strength is at an all Time high as I have been training in the gym really hard this off season every since I joined the volleyball team 11th grade year. my strength best allows me to serve hard and fast, really block hard, receive a hard ball better, and overall when I have my good spikes im able to really slam it on the ground.
