2021 HighlightsPersonal Statement
- The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. -Nelson Mandela. Every time I hit a ball, Every time I step on the court, the only thing that matters is winning no matter what obstacles stand in my way. My name is Jonah Mathew; I am a diligent independent, and grand outside hitter. From my early years to now, I have always been around a volleyball court. At the young age of 11, I was able to see and experience adult players dominating and controlling every play on the court and always wanted to be in that position. After finishing a point, the incredible power and excellence of the game have always caught my eye. From the agonizing sting of the ball to my hand, I've learned that a "moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory" -Louis Zamparini. I learned a lot from my coaches through my volleyball club and continue to improve daily. My parents have always been there to help train me and become a great hitter and worker for Christ. I know this gift I have gotten is from the hands of my God, Jesus Christ, because he is the one who gives me the strength to become the best and motivates me to put in the hard work. In the days to come, I will continue to work harder and be more robust; I also hope to help my team throughout all trials that we face because we must remember that volleyball is not a single-player game but a game of teamwork that motivates and enables you to sail the waves and the winds of life. I hope to continue with my volleyball career at a University, take on the country's best players, and become a national champion. Thank you for your time.
