My goal is to attend a college or university that is well-regarded academically. I take school very seriously and have always made studying and getting good grades a high priority. I had all A’s through middle school and my first 2+ years of High School. I am taking advanced math, AP Comparitive Government and Spanish 4 as a Sophomore. I'll have a similarily rigorous schedule as a Junior this fall. My plan is to study hard, get excellent grades and work toward a degree in medicine and eventually become a physician.
Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in playing and watching sports. Any sports. My parents tell a story of our family going on vacation when I was 5, and I was so engrossed in watching a game on the restaurant television that I barely ate my dinner. They asked me what the game was, and I didn’t even know, but I was rooting for the yellow team. After some research, we learned it was Australian Rugby I was watching, and no one knew any of the rules. But I was hooked and pulling for Team Yellow. If there’s a strategy and a score to be kept, I’m interested. I played baseball for ten years, basketball for six years, youth football for three years, and volleyball for four years. I also studied karate, and earned a black belt in traditional tae kwon do at age 10, and a second degree black belt at age 13. I stopped studying karate when I started high school so I could focus my time and attention on school work and the high school volleyball season.
I think I would be a good addition to your team because I know how important it is to always be a good teammate and team player. One of the things I am most proud of is that I've been chosen by my peers and coaches to be the Captain of my baseball teams, basketball teams, club volleyball teams and high school JV team. It was a real honor to be the Captain of my high school team as an incoming freshman as voted on by several of the older players and coaching staff. I really enjoy taking a leadership role and showing by example how to be an important part of the team. Things like being on time, being organized, listening to the coaches, and staying focused help me be a good role model for my teammates. I have been told by several of my coaches that I am “extremely coachable.”
I would like to be part of a program that would allow me to achieve my potential while at the same time allow me to contribute to the success of the team and their goals in every way we can.
