Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Emily Greenfield and I’m a pitcher and outfielder for Western Texas College.

I have played many sports but none bring the same feeling of joy I get playing softball. I’ve been playing softball for 11 years now and I grow and develop as each year passes. Some of the best experiences of my life have been being picked up by other teams. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to play with many people and have made long term friendships because of these opportunities.

I enjoy learning and developing with the help of every coach I’ve had the opportunity to work with.  I work hard at every aspect of my game so I’m able to perform wherever I’m placed. I always look forward to filling any position I can.

I’m currently in my second year of college and plan on transferring next fall semester. I spend my free time giving back to the sport I love. I enjoy coaching young athletes, they remind me to always have fun when I play. I am also a level 2 umpire and I’m humbled by the different perspective of the game. I am interested in pursuing a career within the field of sports medicine. Education is just as important to me as softball because I know I need to make a living once my softball career is over. I am interested in pursuing a career within kinesiology or something similar.

Thank you for taking the time to read my statement! I hope to hear from you soon. I would love to discuss how I can be an asset to your team and school as a student-athlete.
