Currently, I’m a sophomore at Whitney Young Magnet High School and I play travel softball. My academic goal is to get straight A’s as well as getting into an amazing college. I hope to play softball in high school, as well as getting into a college that I can both shine academically and as an athlete. I plan to use my hard work both on and off the field. Softball has helped shape me in ways that I believe will carry over into my adulthood and for the rest of my life. It has taught me the importance of team work, self-discipline, self-confidence and self-efficacy. I also believe in the importance of supporting and encouraging my fellow teammates so that they can be their best.
Softball has always been a sport that I loved playing. I became interested in softball at a very young age. My dad and I used to play catch and I instantly fell in love. I knew it was the sport for me. I have always felt like I was able to shine when it came to softball. I feel I can be myself around my teammates and on the field.
As a kid in middle school, I went through some rough patches at home with my Mom being quite sick. In school, I experienced bullying. However, those things made me become a more understanding and caring person. A person people can always come to talk to, a friend who was always there. During those tough times, I felt like softball was a place where I could just forget about everything. Through this, I have learned to push through and never give up when things get difficult.
