Emani Torres '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi,

  My name is Emani Torres.  I am 17 years old and entering my senior year of high school.  Softball has been apart of me since I was 6 years old.  There is no other activity I would rather do than softball.  It has provided me with strengths that help me to succeed in school, and everyday life.  I have learned how to handle pressure, be a leader, and have a “team first” attitude when it comes to this sport and life. 

 My motivation comes from my grandfather.  He unfortunately passed away a few years ago.  He never missed a game of mine, and he always was my biggest fan.  It was extremely odd not seeing him sitting there my first game after he passed.  I felt empty, like there was nobody around.  My mind was not there, and my focus was on him, and not the game.  I knew the passion I had for this sport, and so did he.  It took a while, but I was able to realize that he was still there supporting me.  To this day, I play every game knowing I am making him proud.  I want to do the best for myself and team, but also for him.

  I love the competition in softball, there is nothing like it.  I want my team to win every game we play, and I will give everything I have to make that happen.  Whether it’s supporting my teammates, or making plays in the field, my goal is for us to come out with a victory. The classroom is also extremely important to me.  I have never had an issue with grades, and it is routine for me to excel in the classroom at all times.  I know softball does not go on forever, but my education does, and I have never forgotten that.
