My name is Ellie Perez and I am a senior in the graduating class of 2020 at Moore Catholic High School.
Currently, I am in the Presentation Scholars Academy which is Moore's honors program. I have been is PSA since my freshman year and a member of both the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Society as of my sophomore year. I currently have a 3.8 weighted GPA, serve as a peer tutor and was recently elected president of our student council.
My goal for college is to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice studies and eventually pursue a career in federal law enforcement. I like working with and helping people. I'd like to be in a position in my future career where I could have a meaningful impact in my community.
I have played softball for the last 8 years and am excited about the prospect of continuing to play in college. I currently play the starting left fielder position. I love playing the outfield because I get to use two of my biggest assets, my speed and my agility. I'm not afraid to dive for a ball or go all the way back to the fence to make a catch to make a play to help my team win. Being a fast runner allows me to bunt a ball and get to first base before being called out. I'm not your power hitter. I can hit a line drive and I can bunt really well and will continue to work on my hitting and strive to improve it more each day. I hope college coaches will come to recognize my complete willingness to become a better and stronger player on and off the field. I am a hard working, teachable, and enthusiastic player, willing to do whatever needs to be done.
For the last 3 years I have played on a travel team (Staten Island Fast Pitch) and have played 2 years at the varsity level at Moore where we were the New York State Archdiocesan State champions in 2017 and 2018 . This year our team placed 1st in the division championship, 2nd in the city championship, and 3rd in the state championship. I am grateful I had the opportunity to contribute and be a part of those wins with my team.
I love being part of a team and building relationships on and off the field with my team mates. Having fun while playing is important to me and I hope to be a part of a team that not only wants to win but knows how to have fun, support and encourage one another, and have each other's back.
