It was a cold May morning, about twenty degrees, and it was hailing. I begged my coach to not cancel the game because it was opening day, and I couldn’t wait to get the season started. I played through the cold and it was the determination to play, even despite how freezing I felt, that led me to realize my love for the game of softball. Ever since that game, I knew I wanted to play softball for as long as I could. My teammates and family say I am strong-willed and driven, which is shown through the way I dedicate myself to softball. I like to have fun and make people laugh, but as soon as I step foot on the field, I play to win. If there is even the slightest chance I could play the sport I’ve played since I was four after high school, I would chase after it and make it a reality. I believe the most important quality a person can have is their drive to do something they love and I am convinced I have that drive. I don’t just love to play softball, I need to play softball, and I know my drive, determination, and dedication give me the skills I need to succeed in my sport, in college, and beyond.
