My name is LaMaya Smith and I am a junior at Harding University High School in Charlotte, NC. I am currently 17 years old and have been playing Softball once I started high school.I am currently a starting Right Handed Pitcher for my high school team. My alternate positions are Shortstop and Third Base. I became interested in softball from watching many stars such as Cat Osterman, Monica Abbot, Odicci Alexander and many others dominate the sport. As well as the idea of trying something new and outside of my normal routine. I started playing shortstop but tried pitching and it stuck with me ever since. While playing softball, it’s helped me push myself harder than I ever thought I could while teaching me to maintain extracurriculars and school assignments.
In addition, I am in the IB Diploma Program and I will graduate May 2023 with an Associate Degree and/or credits towards the degrees of my choosing. Since softball is a passion of mine it would be great to incorporate that into my college life. My fields of study will either be Justice Studies, Psychology or Public Policy. This will ultimately lead me into my aspiration to become a Criminal Defense Attorney.
I am a good candidate because I have a proven track record of academic excellence and a strong desire to succeed while putting 110% of my effort into everything I put my mind to.
