My father played baseball growing up and as he got older he played softball. There was not one weekend where I wasn’t on the ballfield, but as a child it was the best. I wasn’t the child who would play on the playground though, I would sit in the dugout and watch the game and they would let me on the field to do the coin toss which always made me happy. Him playing and growing up to love and live for this sport made me want to play it and keep the family tradition going. I had tried many other sports before softball but none of them felt right. So one day I picked up a bat and right when I hit the ball I knew softball was for me. As I play the sport I love I notice many things that I’ve learned about myself. I’ve learned that if you work hard then you can do anything. You may not think people are paying attention to you or that they don’t think you work but in reality they know that you work hard. All the little things you do don’t go unnoticed.
My academic goal for high school is to keep my GPA above a 4.0 and get into the national honors society. My academic goal for college is to be able to handle school work and softball all at once. I’ve had to overcome a lot of obstacles. When I was younger many of my coaches didn’t believe in me. The only ones who did were my family. They never would try to help me to where I could potentially get better as I practiced. I overcome those obstacles by working hard every night and doing extra work as much as I could. Softball is why I’m so motivated and it makes me who I am. I don’t know where I would be if I had never picked up that bat.
