My name is Khamya Butler. My plan is to get into a prestigious college or university and major in biochemical engineering while being a softball player, volleyball player, or if possible- both. I will still stick to my priorities regarding my education and stay on track toward successful athletic and professional careers.
I grew up in a single-parent household with my mother, younger sister and 2 older brothers, who are currently collegiate student-athletes. Our mother plays a huge, but quiet part in all of our successes by making sure we have a home to live in, heat when it's cold, air when it's hot, and great meals every day. She makes me want to be the best daughter, student, athlete and person I can be. This is how I know I will achieve greatness.
What sets me apart from other athletes are my passion for the sports I play, my abilities on the field and court, and my understanding that without school, sports would not exist. The classroom really does come first. I love to be challenged. I also love to participate in community service activities. Currently, I volunteer to serve dinners and clean up at a local homeless shelter, and plan to find more volunteer opportunities once the season slows down.
