I believe my perseverance in basketball has enabled me to overcome challenges in all parts of my life. I have faced much adversity playing basketball including having an undefeated 8th grade and entire freshman season canceled due to COVID, and tearing my ACL just prior to my sophomore school season.
Most recently, my junior season of varsity basketball was my first full game play after my ACL recovery. In addition, our varsity team had never won more than 4 games in a season in program history. We only had 8 players on the team ranging from 4’11” to 5’8” facing starting lineups going 5’8” to over 6 feet. Notwithstanding these challenges, our team set a goal of qualifying for the state tournament. I ended up leading our team in scoring with a record of 17-6, and we qualified for the state play-in tournament. Our school now has a year-round program for girls basketball where I will continue to work to improve my overall skills.
I have always been very dedicated to anything I commit myself to. I am willing to learn and put in the work to be a better basketball player and a better asset to the team. I am a leader, and I love encouraging my teammates to be their best on and off the court. Academics are very important to me, and I am looking for a school that has an excellent program for my major, which also fits with my athletic goals.
