As I've grown I've always known myself to be an independent go-getter, being able to go and do the things I believe are best for me and my future. It was never frightening to me to have to be able to do things on my own. I learned from a young age how to be responsible for people other than myself, and to be responsible for my education to keep high grades for as long as I could. I matured quickly to adapt with my surroundings, causing me to be aware of what is best for me and figure out what I want to do with my life quicker. Continuing with my responsibility, I value my academics just as much as my athletics, being more than eligible for sports, sustaining high grades in honors classes. It is easy for me to understand where I am lacking and to see where I need to apply more effort to acquire better results; athletically, or academically. My goal for high school is to finish with a 90+ average, while still juggling my athletics and extracurricular activities as well. In college, I plan on making Criminal Justice my major and Psychology my minor. My goal is to obtain my master's degree and also be able to exceed my achievements from my high school sports.
I've always looked at volleyball as a fun sport, but it wasn't until the beginning of sophomore year that I was having fun playing volleyball competitively. I was encouraged to try out for the team after practicing with the team from 2019 when they needed someone to fill in. The more I played, the more surreal it felt every time I was able to spike better than my last one, or set a better ball than the last. That feeling of being able to improve and still have fun is very meaningful to me. With this sport, it helped me grow to learn how brush off mistakes and use them to get better instead of beating myself up over it mentally. It taught me to value my teammates since I cannot succeed without them. I learned how to be more persistent with myself, and also be more focused in all aspects of my life. I overcame my desire of wanting to win by myself, learning that it isn't about me, but about the whole team. Collectively, I know how to constantly improve, and I know how to influence others around me to rapidly improve alongside me. I believe I have the work-ethic, cooperation, and coachable mindset to be essential to any coach or teammate. Having captain experience for 3 years in 2 different sports and being a three-sport athlete, I know I have what it takes to an essential asset to your team.
