My name is Kaylah Barr, I am a 16 year old looking forward to my Junior season at Bishop Loughlin Memorial high school in Brooklyn, New York. After being scouted and recruited in late winter of my sophomore year I made the decision to transfer schools in hopes of developing my athletic abilities while thriving academically. My goal is to be able to play high college level basketball on scholarship. I’d like to establish and cement myself in Women’s College basketball as an outstanding player and person. My work ethic and determination is unmatched. I love to learn and I love to improve, at any and everything. My mindset is one of my greatest gifts, when I want something, I do what I have to do to get it. Another one of my gifts is my leadership abilities. I have experience with being team captain and I don’t believe it’s an honor given to the best player, but to players that have the team‘s best interest at heart. I’ve helped to coach 10u girls games with their games and I‘ve assisted at girls’ basketball camps in my community. On the court I like to use my dominant left hand to create an unfamiliar setting for my defenders, but I’ve been working tirelessly during the off season to get my right hand up to par. Being a smaller guard means that I have to be both physically and mentally strong in this game. I believe that it’s important to be a student of the game and I believe that it will allow me to become an effective facilitator and decision maker. I take a lot of pride in my basketball iq and the good that comes out of having abundant knowledge of how the game is played. All this being said, I am ready for this school year and this new journey for my high school basketball career and where it will take me.
