I have been playing basketball most of my life. I knew at a very early age that I wanted to play at the college level. My mother was a division 1 basketball player at Niagara University. I know all the doors it opened for her and the experiences she was able to have because of it. To have the opportunity to study for a future career and play basketball at the college level, would truly be a dream come true for me.
I am entering my sophomore year at Commack High School. I am currently playing for Premier AAU Basketball. I am a 5'10 guard that can play most positions with confidence. On most days, I am in the gym at a skills practice, AAU practice, strength and agility class, and/or with my private trainer. I work on my basketball IQ on a daily basis to improve my game on both ends of the court. I pride myself on self discipline and being extremely coachable. The only way I know how to lead on the court is by being a team player. I believe these characteristics set me apart from other players.
Academically, I am interested in the field of mental health and/or counseling with a specific focus on children and adolescents. I have noticed there is more of a need in today's society to help these young people with mental health issues that are so often misunderstood. This field supports my desire to help others.
