Hello! My name is Rachel Akil, and I am a part of the graduating class of 2021. My goal in college is to thrive in the environment I'm in. I want to represent my school through my grades and my athletic successes with the team that I play for. I am very prideful, passionate, and a hard worker. I have always been pretty short and light, but what I lack in weight and height, I make up for in speed, basketball IQ, and work ethic. I am also fiercely competitive and love to win. I leave everything on the court after every practice and every game. What makes me different from other recruits is that I care about my academics just as much as I care about athletics. I am a three season athlete at my high school, and though that may have an effect on some students' grades, I have managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA since freshman year. Sports have taught me many things over the years that I have been playing, but the most important thing it's taught me is the value of your community. Being a part of a team is like having a second family, and I hope to bring that experience to the team that I play for.
