Relentless and passionate team player.
If I had to reduce a description of myself to a short soundbite that would be it. As someone who has been playing basketball since the second grade, I have always enjoyed and excelled at the little parts of the game. In addition to scoring, I have always been known as a player who makes her mark on a game in multiple ways. Whether it is guarding the opposing team’s best player, consistently boxing out my opponent, quickly transitioning from defense to offense, finding an open teammate or getting a loose ball, I have always placed tremendous value on the “other parts of the game.”
In addition to basketball, I find time to be active in multiple school organizations (National Honor Society, Peer Leadership and Student Council and Senior Class President) and other sports (varsity lacrosse and varsity volleyball). I think remaining active in school and other sports has made me a better basketball player. Problem solving and communication in both an academic and in the “other sports” setting is something I bring to basketball. From a pure sports perspective, I believe playing varsity lacrosse and varsity volleyball has helped me to see the basketball court slightly differently than others and use that to my advantage. Notably, volleyball has enhanced my basketball abilities by teaching consistent communication with your teammates whereas lacrosse has assisted in my basketball abilities by highlighting importance of using both hands, proper spacing and movement without the ball. Finally by being active in multiple academic and athletic endeavors, my love of basketball remains fresh and new.
