I will be graduating in the class of 2023. I hope to study engineering, specifically biomedical engineering in college with a long-term goal to serve my country as an officer in the Navy or Air Force. I have been a student of the game of basketball from the time I started school. My mom would bring me to watch my older cousins and sisters playing basketball for our school. I loved watching them play and seeing the commanderies on the court. I started playing basketball through my school's Wee Warriors program in 3rd grade, I would take a basketball out at recess every day to practice on my own. I love all the aspects of the game, offense, and defense but it's more than that. I enjoy helping my team win and knowing that they can depend on me for a clutch shot, but more importantly, I enjoy helping my teammates become better and score their baskets.
My team missed out on the 20-21 season due to Covid. It was difficult but I made it my goal to better my skills on my own. This was the 1st year my school has had a Girls Varsity Team since 2016 and in our first year back we made it to the 1st round of sectionals. Though we lost, we have taken the knowledge of what we need to improve on and committed to getting better. I have also made it my goal to help my teammates and myself to get better, by attending camps as a team or as individuals. I have also planned weekly workouts on the weekends together so we can strengthen our weaknesses.
I don't just play basketball, I also play Varsity Soccer and Varsity Softball for my school and Varsity Ice Hockey for a high school club hockey team. I understand what hard work and dedication are and what it takes to become a better player on the court, pitch, diamond, and ice. I also take pride in my academics, volunteering as a junior firefighter for my community and my membership as a color guard member for the Hudson Valley Squadron Sea Cadet Unit.
