My name is Imani Williams I' m part of the graduating class of 2022 at Dreher High School in Columbia, South Carolina. I currently have a GPA of 3.9 and will be taking the ACT this summer. In 2020, I was inducted into the National Honor Society at Dreher High School. This summer 2021 I was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Medicine, which being held on college campuses. I'm writing to express my interest in playing basketball at the collegiate level .
I'm a calm and confident person who knows when to get things done for myself and my team. I demonstrate speed, athleticism, and the ability to get to the basket. I 'm unselfish, with good court vision and can pass the ball in transition to my teammates. Currently, I'm working on my ability to score more. Overall I'm that person to listen, and to adapt to changes that is better for me and my teammates.
I became interested in basketball when I was put into a small recreational league as a little girl. Playing in that league was when I fell in love with the sport of basketball. Through this sport I've learned that being discipline (while having fun) and practicing for the next level will show on the court. Since middle school, I had the desire to be a leader for my team. I now know what it takes for my team to reach the level coaches want.
I play point guard for Dreher High Girl Varsity Basketball Team located in Columbia, South Carolina. I have received recognitions as: 1) player of the Game in my freshman and sophomore years, 2)competed and won a 2020 rival game (Dreher vs Lower Richland), 3) scored 23 points in a tournament game, 4) maintained a B average all 3 semesters freshman year, 5) District Middle School Championship and 7) National Junior Honor Society. Also, I believe in serving my community through my school and church activities such as: 1) collected clothes and feed the homeless, 2) participated in 2019 families helping families,3) assisted in building a house through "Habitat for Humanity" sponsored by Columbia College Leadership program and participated in the MLK service project to paint an elementary school bathrooms.
