My name is Madelyn Guinn and I am a 5’7” Junior at Northwest High School, in Justin, Texas. I have been training and competing in sand volleyball for the past 4 years. I am a member in the AVID Program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) within the high school, along with leadership council within my high school.
I started competing in volleyball at age 8, where I played for the local city team. As soon as I was old enough, I tried out and joined a local National club volleyball team. I have been fortunate enough to be selected to attend the High Performance Camp in 2016, received MVP Volleyball in 2017 and 2019, received training from some of the best volleyball coaches that include university volleyball coaches (OU and UNT Denton) to a Hawaii Men’s Volleyball Team athlete.
I have also spent the last 4 years training vigorously in Beach Volleyball. It is my passion and I love it. I have played with top tier team and placed top 5 in many tournaments. 2021 has been a very promising year for me, thus far I have been awarded 3 BIDs along with several other top 5 placements. When I'm not in door training at the gym, you can usually find me sand training.
Being a member of strategic volleyball clubs and AVID program has taught how to work through obstacles along with grow as an athlete on and off the court. It has also taught me leadership skills such as determination, confidence, communication, as well as time management, organization and team collaboration. I have learned to be supportive and encouraging to my teammates, as well as how to use constructive criticism to better a teammate. I am coach-able, always willing to learn or try any new techniques thrown at me. I like challenges and think of them as a way for me to improve and advance as a player and teammate.
Academically, have maintained a 3.4 GPA or higher throughout the 2018-2021 school year. I plan to pursue a major within the criminal justice field or physical therapist.
I also love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, and volunteering at the local animal shelters and Christ Haven for Children. I spent most of my summer kayaking, traveling and preparing for my SAT/ACT exams.
I am looking forward to finishing up my Senior year of high school. I am ready to start training and competing at the collegiate level and continue to focus on my growth in the classroom. I am looking forward to attending a university that can recognize me for both my volleyball and academic skills. I believe I am fully prepared to meet the challenges of playing and learning at the next level.
