Personal Statement

Hello. My name is Ainsley Snyder and I am part of the class of 2020.

I am a student at Gilbert Classical Academy in Gilbert AZ. It's a small high school with a focus on academics which is what drew me to the school. They are consistently ranked as one of the best schools, not only in AZ but in the country. I have a 4.7 weighted GPA and scored a 33 on my ACT. My school work and grades are very important to me and I work very hard and take every opportunity to learn more in order to improve my grades. My goal is to graduate number 1 in my class. I ended this year ranked 1. I set goals and then go after them.

Outside of school, my passion is golf. I started at a young age when my parents gave me some clubs and I was kind of a natural at it. Like school, I work very hard and take every opportunity to improve. I want to get better every time I play. I have high expectations and I've set a goal to meet those expectations.

What I like best about golf is the challenge it provides, not only physically but mentally. I am working to expand the different types of shots I can hit as well as working on how to think my way around a course.  My ball striking is one of my biggest strengths and I'm working on turning my weaknesses into strengths.

  • I finished 10th in the 2019 Metro Invitational, I was the 3rd girl (co-ed), played at McDowell Mountain Golf Club and Palmbrook Golf Club.
  • I finished 4th at the 2018 Antigua Junior Prep Championship played at Oakcreek Country Club.
  • I have been an individual qualifier for state the last 3 years in high school.  I play in a co-ed division and this year I played every 9 hole match back with the boys from 3000 to 3300 yards and took medallist honors in many.

I am leaning towards pursuing a degree in education because I want to work with kids and bring them the enjoyment of learning that I have. It's always filled me with great happiness to see someone finally understand a topic. My teachers and golf coaches have always inspired me to be the best person I can be and to look at a situation with a fresh set of eyes. It has helped me to become a more rounded and aware person.

I am also an active member of Girl Scouts and currently working on my Gold Award (equivalent to BSA Eagle Scout). Additionally, I have been the communications-coordinator of the Arizona Junior Classical League and I am a member of Student Senate.

I am looking forward to being a student-athlete in college, challenging myself and continually improving my game.
