My name is Danielle Higbee and I am a sophomore at Archmere Academy in Claymont, Delaware. I am an honest, hardworking student whose goal is to play college golf and win tournaments at a Division I level. Through golf, I have developed patience and perseverance and believe I have the determination to be successful at the collegiate level, both academically and athletically. I am currently on the varsity golf team at Archmere Academy where I finished as a 2nd team All-State selection as a freshman and the Diamond State Athletic Conference Champion after shooting a 71. The golf team consists of both boys and girls and was ranked as the #1 high school golf team in Delaware during the regular season.
It was not until the summer of 2021, that I began playing golf competitively. Prior to 2021, I participated in four other sports throughout the year and only played in a few local golf tournaments. Since 2021, I have dedicated my time to golf, spending countless hours practicing and playing. As a result, I have improved dramatically.
I am currently averaging 260 yards off the tee and spending a majority of my practice sessions putting and hitting a variety of shots inside of 100 yards. With my dedication to fitness and my willingness to work hard and improve my golf swing, I know I will continue to make gains in my driving distance and improve the accuracy of my wedges and putter. I know there is still a lot of room for improvement and I am committed to working hard as I know my best golf has yet to be played.
I truly enjoy the thrill of competition. I enjoyed playing basketball, field hockey, soccer, swimming and softball throughout my childhood. Competition is something I thrive on and brings out the best in me. When it comes to competing in golf, I enjoy when the pressure is on and the match is tight.
I am grateful for my family as they are very supportive of my interest in golf and my academic goals. I can't thank my parents enough for all the time they have sacrificed to allow me to do what I love to do, which is play golf. Over the next three years in high school, I plan to work hard to become the best student athlete. My goal remains the same; achieve high grades in the classroom and low scores on the course.
