Hello! My name is Mariko Yonemura, and I am going to be a junior at Mililani High School in Hawaii. I have been a part of the golf team for both my freshman and sophomore years, and it has been an incredible experience so far. Although this sport is normally seen as an individual one, being able to bond and build friendships with my teammates has taught me to improve as a team player. I have been playing golf for more than 8 years and through that time I've grown to appreciate and genuinely love this sport. I have always known that I wanted to play college golf, and have been tirelessly working in both my athletics and academics to show my potential. Playing golf has given me incredible opportunities such as meeting other great golfers and traveling to the mainland. It gives me the chance to work on staying calm in tough and stressful situations, and keeping a good attitude even when I'm frustrated. This sport is tough, both mentally and physically, but it has overall allowed me to improve in both aspects. I look forward to building new relationships, facing new challenges, and taking in the college experience. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
