Leia Atas '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Leia Atas. I am a senior at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL just outside of Chicago. Maine South is on the  Washington Post's 2014 honor roll of "America's Most Challenging Schools".

I started playing golf when I was 9 years old. My whole family golfs, so I was always around the game. Tagging along my older brother in a Drive, Chip and Putt contest back in 2008, I brought home more medals than he did and was immediately hooked on the game. One of my dreams is to play golf in college. I made the varsity team as a Freshman and have made it to the State Finals every year. I was named Co-Captain as a junior and for the past three years, I've experienced what it's like to be on a team. In my opinion, there's nothing more fun and rewarding than playing the game I love with a team that I love. It's my favorite part about playing golf.

I also love music. When I'm not playing golf, I sing in Chamber Choir and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. I have also been playing piano since I was in 1st grade. I recently taught myself to play the ukulele. I wouldn't be where I am today with golf and music if it weren't for my family. My parents and two older brothers always know how to cheer me on and encourage me to do my best and follow my dreams.
