How I got into golf-
It all started when my family moved across the street from a golf course called Lake Maloney Golf Club. My parents don’t call themselves golfers and had never even played the game until my older brother picked up a club. Once we moved my brother, Kort, began to walk over to the golf course and wack some balls. After watching him for a while I decided I wanted to be part of the fun so I started going with him. I have to give all the credit to Kort that I even play golf. Kort has taught me everything I know about the game until I started taking lessons the end of my freshman school season.
Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete-
Durning my high school career so far I have found myself very involved. I love every part of it but during my experience I have worked extremely hard to put my grades first. My 4.0 GPA has withstood ever since I entered the school doors. As a student-athlete I understand the importance of putting school first.
Why I would make a good college golf teammate-
Golf is known as being an individual sport but what I love about high school and what makes me excited about college is how it becomes way more than that. Your score not only affects yourself it affects your team. I am willing to do whatever it takes to help out my teammates as much as possible. I’m very fortunate for the team I have now because we all encourage and push each other immensely. I know that I would be able to put only a positive impact as a teammate.
I am looking for a university and golf program that-
I’m looking for a golf program that can not only help me grow as a golfer but as a person. I don’t want to be just teammates, I want to be family. I’m looking for a golf team that is motivated to win and as willing to work as hard as I am. I’m looking forward to becoming best friends with these people on and off the course. In the university I’m looking for an academic program that will prepare me for after college. I want to be pushed and feel accomplished after each year is over.
My strengths of my golf game-
One of my strengths as a golfer is my putting. I used to be a horrible putter but now I feel it is able to turn any round into a good one. Another one of my strengths would be that I never give up. Im able to bounce back with a birdie or easy par after a bad hole.
My weaknesses of my golf game-
My number one weakness is my course management. I find myself sometimes not thinking about all of my options. As a golfer I’m working on broadening my options and thinking ahead of time. This also involves my mental game. I sometimes don’t put one hundred percent of my confidence into every shot. I’m practicing remembering what I am capable of and staying in every shot no matter what.
Why my golf game will improve-
I started taking lessons during the winter of 2017. I went through a whole swing change that has brought me to be a a more dynamic and consistent golfer. With this my game will forever be improving. One of my best qualities is, I am willing to work as much as I can to accomplish goals. I will practice and do everything possible to get better each and every day. As a student-athlete I am very coachable and teachable.
