Hello! I am Layla Meric. I have been playing golf since I was 5 years old but I started playing golf competitively at the age of 10. My main goal is to play golf for the college of my dreams and one day even play in the LPGA. Although I love the sport and it is important to me, academic education is a crucial part of my life as well. I currently have a 4.0 gpa as a junior at Cuthbertson High School and I am on the Women’s golf team.
On my team, I play as number one and I am also team captain for the third year in a row. In the 2019-2020 Women’s Golf season, I was player of the year for the second year in a row, overall conference winner, conference tournament winner, 3A Women’s Golf Regional Champion, and I placed Top 5 at the 3A Women’s State Championship.
I am not only hardworking, but I am patient, play well under pressure, I am kind and encouraging to those who I play with, I am respectful to my coaches and teachers, and I prefer resolving any issues through communication. During my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends, volunteer, read, write, and paint.
In middle school, I was on the Science Olympiad team and in Beta Club. In high school, I am in HOSA, Beta Club, and Film Club. Clubs and classes that I have participated in have had a great effect on me and I aspire to go into the business, law or the journalism field.
Thank you!
