My biggest achievement this year was winning the NCHSAA 3A State Championship with a PR of 18:11 and leading our team to our first ever Championship title. Earlier in the season I also won the Conference and Regional title. My success in XC earned me the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. During the track season I cut down my times to a 11:11 in the 3200 and a 5:10 in the true mile. The highlight of my indoor season was when my teammates and I made the podium to place 4th in NY city at New Balance Indoor Track Nationals in the 4X1 mile. In outdoor track I finished my season strong with a 3rd place finish in the 3200 at the NCHSAA State Championship.
As an upperclassmen this year I am excited to take on a leadership role on my team. I plan to mentor the middle school runners who will soon be a part of our team and help them with the difficult transition from middle school to high school running. I hope to help lead our XC and Track teams to more State Championships to win the Triple Crown this year. My personal goals for this year include breaking 18 minutes in the XC 5K, going sub 11 in the 3200, and taking my time down to a 5 minute mile.
