Hi, my name is Samantha Wong from Dallas, Texas. I am a junior at the Dallas International School, an international private school that is part of the Mission Laïque Française network. I am currently pursuing the rigorous French Baccalauréat with International Baccalaureate English honors. I have developed a great endurance due to weekly four hour exams. I have a I am fluent in English, French, Mandarin, and Spanish, having adopted a globally diverse mindset.
One of my passions is competitive golf. I started playing at five years of age and continuously played competitively with U.S Kids and North Texas PGA tournaments through to 2016. I qualified and competed in the U.S. Kids World Championship 2015 & 2016 (top 30 finish) as well as IMG Academy World Championship in 2017. As an academically focused international program, our school did not have a golf team. In order to continue my passion, I started the school’s golf team in 2017 and have served as the team’s captain ever since. I won the TAPPS 2A individual state title twice, as a freshman and sophomore, leading my team to two district and regional titles.
I am a very coachable student of the game, and I take direction and feedback extremely well. I enjoy the great challenge of balancing golf while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I believe my initiative differentiates me from other candidates. My unparalleled enthusiasm, determination, leadership, and work ethic will contribute greatly to any college golf team. My goal is to play golf for a program that will allow me to grow my abilities on and off the golf course while simultaneously earning my degree from a highly academically selective college.
