Personal Statement

My name is Maren Stachniak. I am a 2024 graduate from Calgary, AB, Canada.

I have played Hockey since the age of three and played men's community Hockey until the age of 13 when I was welcomed into the AFHL elite female Hockey program. The following year I was not eligible to play elite hockey due to an injury and instead dedicated my time to training. The following year I played as an affiliate at the AA level. In 2022 I made it back into the system, playing as an affiliate for the Junior Oilers White AAA team while playing AA in Calgary with the Calgary Fire Red team. For the upcoming 2023/24 season I will be playing for the AAA Jr. Oilers in Edmonton.

As an athlete I am very consistent and hard working. I am enjoyable to have on the bench and on the ice due to my loud, fun personality and ability to bring positive energy into any situation. On the ice I am consistent and have a large meaningful presence. Many coaches have spoken highly of my Hockey IQ, speed, and ability to activate offensively without neglecting my job as a defenseman. I have also been commended for my ability to listen and apply feedback and my eagerness to learn more.

I currently attend a highschool for the gifted and hope to continue along the path of enriched education. I intend to take health and exercise sciences from which I will pursue further medical specialization.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
