I became a goalie in grade 6, loving it ever since I strapped on the pads. After playing boys hockey the majority of my childhood I made the decision that I wanted to play female hockey. My second year bantam my parents helped me get a tryout for an Elite Female hockey team, which we understood that in order for me to play I would have to billet. I ended up making the elite team in Leduc, having to be the only goalie on the team. Once I got into the league other coaches began to get a look at me and see what I was capable of doing with my team. We pursued the season and came out with a silver medal in provincials, being the underdogs not expected to make it past the first round of playoffs. My first year midget I played the season with St. Alberts AA midget elite team. I billeted in order to play here as well. We went to Wickfest in Calgary, coming out with a gold medal in a shootout. The next tournament we went to was Fraser Valleys AAA tournament in BC. We ended up winning a gold medal in a shootout as well. It was an amazing experience. The end of that season we also went to provincials winning another silver medal. My second year midget when I played for NCI’s Midget Elite team, I decided I didn’t want another silver medal and this was my year for gold. I worked hard all season to help my team achieve the end goal of a gold medal. We were a weaker team at the beginning of the season but, by the end we began to pick it up. We ended up beating Sherwood park in playoffs and went to play St. Albert in our second round. Covid sadly ended our season before we had a chance to reach our potential. I trained over the entire summer with some different goalie coaches including Gold in the Net, ATC, Kurtis Mucha, and Precision Goalie (Cody Osborne). I also did a lot of off ice training, and skated with St. Albert Slash AAA. I’m now playing for Leduc NCI’s Midget Elite team. I have a desire to continue my hockey career on throughout post secondary, coming out with many new friends and experiences.
