As a little girl I watched my two older brothers play hockey and all I wanted was to be like them. I began skating and messing around with hockey at the age of 2 and by the age of 5 I started actually playing with Foothill Hockey Association, my local boys hockey organization. I played with the organization until Bantam year when I switched over to Colorado Girls Select. Every since I was watching my brothers play I wanted to play at the highest level of hockey. I also wanted to share my love of hockey with others so I help teach kids with special needs how to play hockey with the Colorado Golden Eagles that my family has been apart of for 17 years.
In school I work hard in order to keep my GPA at 3.7 out of 4.0. In the future I want to study psychology and criminal justice in order to become a Profiler. I also participated in many clubs in my school such as Multicultural alliance (MCA) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). In MCA we help a local underprivileged elementary school by giving them gifts during Christmas time and giving them plenty of canned food to last them all winter break. FBLA students learn the skills to become apart of the business world in the future. I’m also involved with my schools swim and dive team as well as our girls golf team which allowed me to gain endurance from swimming and learn the power of patience from golf.
Hockey has taught me many lessons in life. One important lesson is leadership doesn’t always have to mean wearing the C or the A on your jersey. I believe it has a lot to do with what you do when nobody is watching you and what your character is all the time. I am the quiet leader, holding the foundation of the team together while allowing others to come to me for help in any aspect of their life.
