Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Lilah Cudney. I currently play 16U Tier 1 hockey and am looking forward to and hoping to develop my skills at a collegiate level.  I have been a Tier 1 player for the last four years.  Last season my team won the New York State Championship and played at the 14u Tier 1 Nationals in Pittsburgh.

For the 2022-23 season I am playing for the 16U Tier 1 Amherst Lady Knights.  I am a right shot defenseman and I play both the left and right side.  I feel my strengths are playing as more of a traditional defenseman and having a mindset of always wanting feedback to develop as a player. I like to push myself to play the body and get involved with the play. I take pride in cheering for my teammates and always being up on the boards watching every play while I am on the bench. I am dedicated and passionate about this sport. I travel one and a half hours each way for every practice.  Last season my team had 60 practices.

In addition to hockey, I also play varsity softball for Franklinville Junior/Senior High School, NY. My peers and coaches have described me as hard working, driven to improve, and willing to do whatever it takes to take my talent to the next level. I take pride in being willing to push myself to the next level and challenging myself to be the best in both of my sports, both in practice and game situations.

I am a student at Franklinville Junior/Senior High School. I completed my freshman year with a 4.0 GPA, getting High Honor Roll every quarter of my freshman year. I love to challenge myself and do my best in school to get the highest grade I can get. Understanding that academics is the biggest part of getting into college is something I’ve focused on ever since I realized I wanted to play hockey at the collegiate level.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to discussing athletic and academic opportunities with you soon.
