Laurena Filoti '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Laurena Filoti, and one of my biggest aspirations is to play college lacrosse.  Being an athlete from a young age, sports have shaped me into the person I am and are a very large part of my life.  I started playing lacrosse 4 years ago, and now it has become something that I dedicate myself to every day.  Previously to playing lacrosse, I had done figure skating since I was 5 years old. The extensive regimen of training in figure skating has helped shape my athletic mindset to being extremely hardworking and dedicated. I never give up, and will always try to go the extra mile to get the job done. 

I absolutely love playing lacrosse and the intensity of this sport. As a midfielder, when I am on the field, I can make quick decisions transitioning between an offensive and defensive mindset. I am passionate about supporting my teammates on the field, while also initiating plays myself when needed. I will always do anything for my team, and work very hard to accomplish our collective goals as well as my own personal goals.  I strongly believe that an athlete will only be as good as the work they put into their sport, so I am always working hard by training every day and doing that one extra step towards being a better athlete. To me, there is always room for improvement and criticism is always welcome. 

When I am off the field, I implement the same mindset and work ethic to my academics. I currently attend BASIS Oro Valley, which is ranked as #18 in the nation, and #5 in STEM high schools. Going to BASIS schools, education is an important part of my life. I love to learn and find joy in acquiring more knowledge in subjects I am interested in. I work very hard to maintain straight A's and a high GPA. In my search for a college that fits me, I am looking for a school where I can play lacrosse at a high competitive level, and where I can provide a positive contribution to a team and program. At the same time, I want to obtain an exceptional education in the future. Thank you for taking the time to consider me as a future athlete at your school.
