My lacrosse journey started in 7th grade, when my older sister had taught me the basics of the sport. From there, my skill and love for the game have only grown. After realizing four years wasn't enough for me to play, I decided I wanted to play in college and grow as an athlete through my college years. Through my years playing, each season has been better than the last. Even if we didn't win every game, the lessons I learned have served me well and have helped me grow tremendously in the sport and as an athlete.
Lessons I have learned have helped me become a better person on and off the field. One year ago, my high school team attended the sectional championships in upstate New York. Although the turnout was unfortunate, I will never forget that game and the lessons I learned that would make my passion for the sport even stronger. Some include learning compatibility and listening to your teammates, even under pressure, along with the concept of "emptying the tank" and leaving everything on the field. Incorporating these ideas, as well as a handful of other lessons have helped me compete the best I can in games and practices. These are also lessons that I intend to use through my collegiate career.
As hard as I work on the field, academics are also a high priority and I work just as hard in the classroom. Time management has become a key component in my life. Attending a high school with particularly challenging academics, I have set high standards for myself and my education that I intend to follow through the continuing of my high school experience and into college. I plan on challenging myself with difficult STEM and AP courses for my years as an upperclassman. After high school, I plan on majoring in Biology, after thoroughly enjoying learning about it in high school, and eventually go forward to become a college strength and conditioning coach, to help professional athletes grow in the sport they have grown a passion for.
My love for lacrosse has thrived because of the support I have behind me. My sister, who introduced me to the game; my parents, who support me eternally, and especially my coaches who have trained me and taught me to push myself as hard as I can. Without these people, I know I would not be the same player as I have grown to be today and will continue to evolve into.
