I have always been an active kid. I grew up playing all kinds of sports. My dad was super into sports and wanted us playing as many as possible. Throughout middle school I played soccer, track, swimming, diving, and basketball. I never discovered lacrosse until the summer going into my freshman year. Immediate I loved the atmosphere and the team setting that lacrosse offered.
I started playing travel lacrosse in 2020 near the middle of my sophomore year but like my sophomore school season all games were cancelled due to COVID.
When I got to high school I narrowed down the activities I participated in. I was on my schools varsity swim team. I would swim for about an hour and a half get out of the pool and drive to diving for another hour and half. I participated in both practices even though my coach told me if I dove I didn’t have to go to swim practice. I wanted to show him that I really wanted to put in the work and be with the team as much as possible. But lacrosse was where my true joy was. My junior high school season was when I saw lots of improvement. My coach would put me on both sides of the ball and I took a liking to defense. Our team had a decent year even though we were playing hard teams.
I have always been a strong leader and team player. This past year (junior year) I was voted team captain of the swim team. This year (senior year) I was voted captain of the swim team again. It feels great to have the younger kids on the team look up to me enough to vote me captain. I try my best to make sure they knew someone was always going to be there to cheer them on. That’s something I hope to bring to college. Being a part of a strong team atmosphere is what I look forward to most.
