My name is Ava Cameron Plata. I attend the Nichols School in Buffalo NY; I will be graduating in 2022. Currently, I am a rising sophomore having just finished my freshman year. This year academically I adjusted well in transitioning to high school and should end with a strong GPA. One of the goals on my list this year was to make the very competitive varsity team at Nichols. I was the only freshman to make the team and started every game as a midfielder. Most of all I can attribute my growth this season to my coach Beth Stone, as the only freshman she provided the guidance and support that allowed me to grow.
Growing up with a twin sister naturally made me more competitive. Although most of the time we don’t intentionally compete with one another, sub-consciously we always do. Having a built-in teammate since the start has made me become a selfless team player. This has allowed me to understand the importance of creating un-selfish plays on the field. My competitive drive and a little stubbornness fuel my passion for the sport of lacrosse.
