My name is Heidi and I have been in love with playing lacrosse for the last three years. When I started out in 6th grade it was just another sport, but my high school team really made the sport come to life for me. Our first year as a program we only got 1 game before COVID and then everything stopped. We weren't able to get back on the field until the mini-season of 2021, then shortly after I fractured my wrist and had to sit out on the first tournament of travel. Another big shift came when our 2022 school season had no goalie and I, who had previously been a middie, got pushed into that position. The 2022 season has been the best season I've ever played though; our team came first in conference, I made all conference, and my team all connected. This made me realize that I really liked goalie and that I wanted to keep making team bonds past high school.
A big part of my college decision is figuring out what position to play going forward. After playing goalie for a season I've found that I like it and I'm decent at it, but I played defense in my summer travel season. I really enjoy both positions, but I am really struggling to pick which one I should go with. I'm working on getting up some video of me playing defense, but at this point it is really comes down to the preference or need of a coach.
