Bill Braxton Fros...Personal Statement
Hi my name is Maya and I’m a coxswain for the West Side Rowing Club. My top goal for high school is to get recruited to a D1 rowing team! I have decided to make this important decision as I have absolutely fallen in love with the sport and couldn’t imagine going to college without crew being a big part of it. While I’m in college I hope to major in either business/economics or electrical engineering/material sciences. While in the 9th seat I take a lot of pride in making my boat the best that it can be whether it’s the top boat or not. I love unifying the athletes and supporting them all throughout there rowing journey. During my free time I love making investments, cycling, speed skating, and skateboarding. After college I hope to cox for the national team or start my own business and I hope that your college can be apart of my journey!

- Learned about the ins and outs of coxing from athlete nutrition, to equipment management, and everything else in between! We had many different speakers including Mary Whipple (had a class about steering and boat maneuverability), Eric Gehrke (class on rigging), and many more wonderful speakers!

- Would erg with my team during the winter either in preparation of the coxswain dash, or when I didnt have any other coxing duties. Erging with my team really helps me empathize with my team while in the 9th seat and understand the rowing stroke more in depth.
