Rowing has been a part of my life since I was only 10 years old. I remember being a little skeptical about it, but as soon as I left that dock I felt powerful. My absolute favorite part of rowing is when you and your boatmates have a really good row and you're just flying across the water, drawing out every last bit of your energy, then pushing beyond that.
Rowing has really taught me my limits and how far I can push them, which is really important in my life since I have learned how to keep going when others would quit. It has given me the motivation to work hard for what I want and how a little extra work can go a long way. Suddenly, that little bit of extra studying or a meeting with a teacher seems less daunting.
For me, rowing has been a great way to just unwind and escape from the responsibilities of everyday life. I get to be around people I enjoy and do what I love, which is something many people aspire to find. Rowing is also a great challenge for me. I strive to make every piece my best and really work towards the overall goals that I set for myself. When I don't achieve them first try, I don't get discouraged, in fact, I work even harder to make sure I get where I want and need to be.
