As a coxswain, my one constant goal is to be the best that I can be for my team. To do this, I am always trying to find new opportunities to learn and grow, both on and off the water. Coxing in college is a major goal of mine, as I know that it will greatly further my skill set and experience as a coxswain. I am willing to work hard for what I want, and while there is no way to "measure" a coxswain's ability, (such as an erg score) I hope that my grades reflect that. Ultimately, I believe that my passion and dedication to both my team and the sport makes me stand out from other recruits.
July of 2021, I was coxing 4 times a day, twice at my boathouse and two separate practices at the Yale 2021 Rowing Camp. At the end of the camp, Coach Andy Card of the Yale Men's Lightweight Team wrote this about my coxing: "I am impressed by Amanda’s calm command of the shell and of the oarsmen. And also impressed she is coxing 3-4 times a day! That’s how you get good."
