I have been blessed and fortunate enough to have excelled in all sports that I have played throughout my life. This has included soccer. I excel on the soccer field because of my vision, speed and selflessness. I have played on a club team since I was 8 years old. I currently play for South Valley United Club in Visalia, California. As a sophomore I am a 2nd year starter on the varsity girls soccer team at Redwood High School in Visalia, California. I play attacking midfield for this team. The skill that has pushed me to be my very best is my ability to have tremendous field vision and react to any situation during a game. I have learned to read the game while anticipating the future play of my opponents. I am a player who observes and responds creatively to plays on the field. These skills have allowed me to be a successful leader on soccer field and to also help my team compete at an extremely high level.
I am fortunate enough to have excellent speed; not just in a sprint but also when possessing and dribbling the ball. I continue to focus on my body control and speed. Being able to stop and start quickly on the field allows me to react to any situation that I may encounter and respond accordingly. I am continually working on my mental and physical game.
I would describe myself as a selfless player on the field. I strive to get my teammates involved in the action. My coach often calls me “the play maker.” I am able to see the play in my head, foresee what is likely to happen next and then direct my teammates to make the play I have envisioned a reality. As the situation on the field changes, I pride myself on my ability to adapt and make adjustments on the fly. Not every style of play or plan of action will work in every game or against every opponent. Thus, I know that in order to lead my team to success, I have to figure out the best way to use my talents and the skills of my teammates to attain victory.
As a Freshman in High School (2016-2017), I was a starter on the varsity soccer team, playing attacking center mid-field. Our team won West Yosemite League, CIF Central Section Valley Champions (Div. 2) and I was the only freshman named 2nd Team All-WYL. as a Sophomore (2017-2018), I again started at center midfield. We again won the West Yosemite League. We were semi-finalists in the Central Section (now Div. 1) Valley playoffs.
I continue to play year round for South Valley United club team. Our club team won the Championship of our Fall League in 2017 season. I also am attending College ID camps throughout California, playing in many College Showcase tournaments with my South Valley United team and have been invited to participate in many College Camps.
As I am in athletics, I am also a dedicated and high achieving student in the classroom. My GPA is currently a 3.8 and I am in honors math and english courses. After completing High School, I intend on attending college and getting my Bachelor’s degree. I am not sure of my focus of study in college yet. But, I do know that my immediate objective is to continue to be a good person, achieve academic success and develop my soccer skills so that I can move onto a four-year college after graduating high school.
