I understand that I have always been the underdog. I have failed more times than I would like to admit, but I believe that failure is the mother of all success. Every time I have fallen, I have gotten up smarter and stronger. When I was a freshman I didn’t make it on varsity. I can still feel that blow. After that, I worked for hours every day to change and become better. The next year I made it as a varsity starter for every game. Last year, I tried to join a club team, but there were not enough girls. By that time it was too late to apply for any other club team. So I worked at home. I went to any college soccer event in my area. I tried to learn and soak up every possible drop of information I could from those coaches.
I know that I am an anomaly. I have the work ethic and self-motivation to make it as a college athlete, while also being a good student. This past year I realized how important grades were. I have put more time and effort into my education. My GPA reflects that. It has greatly improved this year in comparison to my two previous years. I am looking for a school where my dream of infinite knowledge can continue to flourish, as well as a school where I can be the best student-athlete. I know that I will put in the work because I know that every opportunity is a blessing that I can not afford to miss out on.
